Do you want new headphones for recording that will give a studio-like feel at home?

Not a big deal! TASCAM TH-300X is worth buying for studio purposes.

The TASCAM TH-300X is a wired over-ear studio monitor headphone. It works well for anything from personal listening to professional monitoring. They are one of the best I have ever used for recording my songs and practical assignments.

These headphones deliver the pure, achromatic sound that artists want in their studios, along with plenty of processing capacity and isolation for recording and live uses.

It can isolate any artist by the closed-back design, which prevents microphone leakage and interference. The TH-300X’s soft leatherette ear cushions and adjustable headband make it comfortable to use for long periods of time.

It also manages huge amounts of power without distorting my display, no matter how quiet or loud. The large-diameter drivers deliver lots of basses and precise treble without being harsh, making them ideal for long recording sessions.

They’re compatible with both consumer and professional equipment thanks to the supplied 1/8″-to-1/4″ adapter and the gold-plated connections won’t corrode or crack even after several years of being in use.

But even after reading all this, if you are not sure about buying these headphones, you can read the whole article in which I have done a wholesome review of TASCAM TH-300X headphones.

At first, I will provide you with an overview of the TASCAM brand and then we will come to the specifications and performance of the headphones. So, let’s go through my review.

TASCAM Brand Overview

TASCAM is one of the four divisions of TEAC Corporation. With a market valuation of 1.2 billion dollars, TEAC Corporation is a Japanese manufacturing company. Its headquarters are in Santa Fe Springs, California, and it was founded in 1971. The company’s first products were TEAC multitrack recorders. It was responsible for the introduction of a wide range of headphones all over the world.

The TASCAM TH-300X headphones are the newest addition to the company’s illustrious headphone lineup. And, as a die-hard TASCAM lover, I couldn’t contain my excitement when the TH-300X was launched. I bought this headset right away and have been using it for quite some time now.

Initially, I just utilized the headphones to record my radio-related projects and listen to music daily. But when I got to know that these are studio headphones, then I started using them for professional purposes. And you will be glad to know that these headphones amazingly worked. What Did I Get In The TASCAM TH-300X’s Box?

th300x unboxing

I was overjoyed when I received the TH-300X headphones in my hands. Although to be honest, these aren’t the finest, still, they made me say “Yes”, and I finally got it. Another headphone in my kitty.  Unboxing any headphones has always been a thrilling experience for me.

When I initially opened the box, my gaze was drawn to the TASCAM TH-300X closed-back headset. The package also comes with a 14-inch stereo adaptor cable, as well as two manuals: One is an instruction handbook that tells us about its features, while the other is a user manual that explains how to use it, as well as cautions and warranty information.

Key Specifications Of TASCAM TH-300X

1- Type And Design

The TASCAM TH-300X headphone is made of high-quality materials. It has a metal skeleton and is composed of plastic.

The overall construction materials appear to be quite sturdy and long-lasting. My headset has withstood a couple of bumps, but it is still functional. It’s only now that it’s starting to strip away. As a result, this headset is both long-lasting and sturdy.

The TASCAM TH-300X headset is available in black, which I think looks great. The accentuated inscription “TASCAM” in white hue at the top of the headband gives this headset a unique design that perfectly syncs with my aesthetic look.

This headset is 14.4 ounces in weight, which is not at all light. It also isn’t foldable in any way.

2- Large Neodymium Magnetic Driver

The TASCAM TH-300X has large-diameter magnetic drivers with a size of 45 mm, which is way bigger than other standard headphones.

Cone-shaped membranes were employed in traditional dynamic drivers, however, this model of TASCAM headphones employs Neodymium magnetic drivers. The headphones’ neodymium magnetic drivers are specialized technology that converts digital data into sound waves audible to the human ear.

These drivers vary from dynamic drivers in that they feature a signal converter diaphragm. Furthermore, they are extremely light and produce 8 times more bass than their comparable counterparts. As a result, a great amount of sound is generated while using very little electricity.

3- Cable

th 300x chord

The TASCAM TH-300X headphones come with a 3.5mm audio port and a wire. Unfortunately, the cord is not removable, which makes me somewhat dissatisfied. The connecting cable, however, is coiled and long enough to allow for comfortable mobility.

When coiled, the cable is 6 feet long; when stretched, it is 12 feet long. The extended cord will make it easier to move around while listening or recording.

4- Frequency Response

The TASCAM TH-300X’s frequency response is 10Hz-26kHz which will make this headset slightly better than TASCAM TH-200X.

5- Impedance

The impedance of these headphones is 40 ohms, which I consider to be excellent because the impedance of headphones should be greater. It’s the amount of power needed to run a pair of headphones. The more energy they demand, the more bass they produce.

4- Sensitivity

The sensitivity of the TASCAM TH-300X headphones is 98 ± 3dB, which is great since it specifies the maximum volume an earphone can output. The majority of headphones have a dB/mW rating of roughly 110, and anything less than 85, in my opinion, should be avoided.

Performance Of TASCAM TH-300X Headphone

th 300x build

1- Comfortability And Portability

The TASCAM TH-300X headphone delivers adequate comfort that I can anticipate from a premium professional headphone for studio purposes.

My ears are made even more comfortable by the velvety leatherette earpads. The earpads are quite spacious, making them suitable for a wide range of ear sizes. It’s a good fit for my ears. When I wore this headset for a lengthy amount of time, I never felt irritated or even overheated.

It’s also quite pleasant to wear for several hours because of the adjustable headband. The headband is well-padded and will suit most small and large heads. The clamping force is also ideal.

The TASCAM TH-300X headset is not very portable as it is 14.4 ounces in weight, which is not light weighted anyhow.  It is also not flexible. As a result, transporting it will be difficult. Long-attached cords might also be a concern too.

When listening while sitting at a desk or elsewhere, the TASCAM TH-300X is sturdy enough. However, when I perform intense exercises or sports activities such as jogging, riding, skating, trekking, riding bikes, and so on, it is not stable enough on my head, As a result, I am always afraid of them dropping.

Because the headset is big, it has the potential of falling out of your ears, as has occurred to mine sometimes.

2- Sound Quality

TASCAM-300X has excellent sound quality. It has a very rich and full tone.  The large-diameter drivers deliver lots of bass and precise treble without being harsh, making them ideal for long recording sessions.

The TASCAM TH-300X has a frequency response of 10Hz to 26kHz. This range is suitable for many types of music. In the studio, artists want pure, achromatic sound, and this headset delivers. For tracking and live usage, it has sufficient power handling and isolation.

This headset provides me with perfectly clear audio and a great listening experience every time. I heard incredibly clear and natural sounds whether composing or performing in the studio. This headset has a sound that is organically harmonized in my opinion. And I was hoping for a crisp, natural sound from this high-end studio headset.

3- Sound Leakage

The sound leakage performance of the TASCAM TH-300X headset is adequate. It does not leak sound because it is a closed-back headset. The earpads properly protect the ears and prevent sound leaking. Ever think that why it is important in headphones? Read this simple study to get more about it.

As a result, no one will ever be disturbed when listening to music at a high volume. Even when I used these headphones to listen to stuff in libraries and empty metros, I had no trouble listening to anything at a loud volume since the headphones don’t leak sound. There are some other headphones you can consider which don’t leak sound.

4- Noise-Canceling

There is no Active Noise Cancellation on the TASCAM TH-300X headphones. Though it can passively isolate ambient sounds as an over-ear, closed-style headphone, however, this is insufficient.

It can partially separate undesirable background sounds while listening at a high volume. So, if you’re looking for a noise-canceling system, I wouldn’t recommend these headphones. Just like, during sleep you don’t want any other noise so these types of headphones can be preferable.

Active noise-canceling headphones are available in a variety of styles. If you want noise-canceling headphones, you can go through our guide on the best noise-canceling Bluetooth headphones.

5- Microphone

A microphone is not included with the TASCAM TH-300X headset. So, if you’re looking for a headset with a microphone, the TASCAM TH-300X isn’t the headset for you. If you need a microphone, the MAIRDI M USB headset is a good option.

6- Waterproofing

This studio headphone is not designed to be used in wet conditions. It’s also not waterproof as well as sweatproof. As a result, I am keeping my headphone away from water and excessive perspiration.

If you need waterproof earphones, Plantronics 211856-99 earbuds are a good choice because they are also sweatproof.

7- Compatibility

All devices that have a 3.5mm audio connector can use the TASCAM TH-300X headset. If your device doesn’t have a 3.5mm jack, you may use the 14-inch adaptor to connect it. In such an instance, though, the gadget must have a 14-inch audio jack port.

This TASCAM TH-300X headset works with both Windows 10 and Mac. I can, however, use it with Android but not with the iPhone. It’s because the most recent iPhone model lacks an audio jack. To connect it to my iPhone, I’ll need to utilize a third-party adapter.

Aside from that, they are also compatible with the PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.

8- Gaming Capabilities

Even though the TASCAM TH-300X studio headphone is not a professional gaming headset, I use it primarily for audio with gaming systems. When I’m playing a game, it gives me loud and clear audio. When I’m gaming, the lengthy chord also allows me to move around freely.

However, because it lacks a microphone, I am unable to communicate with other players, making it just partially appropriate for gaming. So, if you don’t require voice chat, this headset is ok for gaming. I also prefer a few more headphones of this type so that you can choose from the variety of gaming headphones that is suitable for it.

9- Studio Purposes

This TASCAM TH-300X headset is ideal for monitoring in the studio as it is sensible enough to catch even the littlest elements of sound.  It’s something I’ve learned from personal experience. When mixing or recording, it gives me clean, loud, and natural sounds. It keeps me focused on my task at all times.

The TASCAM TH-300X can take enough power without distortion, regardless of how quiet or loud you’re monitoring.

It might fall from your head.  Aside from that, they aren’t portable because they aren’t all flexible and can’t fit in every place.
  • You can’t use this headset for online teaching, gaming, or meetings since it doesn’t have a microphone, so you can’t talk to each other. It is also not suitable if you wanted to use them while wearing glasses.
